Law and Policy Analyst
Ben Hartung is a Law and Policy Analyst for the Policy Surveillance Program. Mr. Hartung researches, analyzes, and codes laws to assist in the creation of quantitative legal datasets for publication in Lawatlas.org. Prior to joining the program, Mr. Hartung worked as a staff attorney for the Clean Air Council, a non-profit environmental advocacy organization based in Philadelphia. At the Clean Air Council, Mr. Hartung supported litigation challenging zoning ordinances and state permits related to hydraulic fracturing. He also drafted comments on newly proposed state air pollution regulations. During his final year of law school, Mr. Hartung interned with the Energy and Utilities unit of Community Legal Services, Inc. Prior to law school, Mr. Hartung served for a year in Americorps as a teaching assistant through the City Year Greater Philadelphia program. Mr. Hartung has a BA from Wesleyan University in Earth and Environmental Sciences, and a JD from Temple University's Beasley School of Law.
